A thief who stole from multiple Peterborough supermarkets has been jailed after being caught on CCTV.

Luke Nash, 43, of Sycamore Avenue, Dogsthorpe, admitted several theft and burglary offences in Peterborough.

On August 4, Nash entered an Asda store at Viersen Platz and stole a staff member’s jacket containing keys and a wallet.

He then broke into the warehouse and stole a box of goods.

On August 25, he returned, jumped a fence and stole bottles of vodka from the warehouse after hours.

Nash was arrested on September 3 and charged with theft from person, two counts of non-dwelling burglary with intent to steal, and two counts of theft from shop.

The shop thefts happened at Tesco Express in Dogsthorpe on August 18 and the Co-op in Loxley Centre, Werrington, on August 28.

PC Jack Jenkins said: "Nash’s offending was brazen, stealing right in front of staff without any regard for the law or the impact his actions have on them."

Nash was jailed for 24 weeks after admitting the offences at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on September 17.

He was also ordered to pay £150 compensation.
