Peterborough is at the centre of a tale of two cities – and two MPs.

Andrew Pakes, the Labour and Co-operative MP for Peterborough, recently met Emma Harrison, the Liberal MP for Peterborough in Ontario, Canada, during an official visit to Canada.

Mr Pakes said: "It was a joy to meet Emma Harrison MP on my visit to Canada.

"The world is large enough for two MPs for Peterborough, and this week we finally met."

The MPs compared notes on the pressures facing their constituents and on how each city is working to attract new investment and opportunity.

Ms Harrison said: "It was lovely connecting with MP Andrew Pakes.

"Even though our constituencies are an ocean apart, it was fascinating to hear about the many similarities between our communities, from the priorities and challenges we share to the opportunities we see for the future.

"Conversations like these are a wonderful reminder of how much we can learn from one another, no matter the distance."

Peterborough, Ontario, is located around 125km northeast of Toronto and is known as the gateway to the Kawartha Lakes region.
