An arsonist who set fire to his own Cambridgeshire home has been jailed for two years.
Police officers and firefighters were called to a property on Cheviot Avenue, Gunthorpe, Peterborough belonging to Robert Hill, 46, on May 9.
Smoke and flames were seen coming from the property.
Hill was inside with a family member when he started the fire, and officers found two lighters on him.
Hill admitted arson at Cambridge Crown Court on September 29 and was jailed for two years.
Detective Constable Nat Cook, who investigated the case, said: “The consequences of Hill’s reckless actions could have been catastrophic, and he is seriously lucky no-one was harmed in the blaze.
“The fire was deliberate and put himself and a family member in serious danger, so I am pleased the sentence reflects the damage and distress he caused.”
