The branch was based at the Westgate Arcade before it shut nearly two years ago in January 2020, leaving regular customers disappointed.
The restaurant closed after the company went into administration – shutting all 18 branches with more than 200 people losing their jobs.
In Peterborough the unit has remained unoccupied ever since, although the menus, cutlery and signage remained present for sometime afterwards.
Now new owners for the company have come forward, in the form of former employee Adam Howitt and Howitt Hospitality Consultants, who has already reopened branches in Sheffield, Aberdeen and Lincoln.
Earlier this year he told LincolnshireLive he was attempting to relaunch the branches that had been profitable all along.
Now it appears our city is next, and Peterborough Matters understands the restaurant is getting ready to re-open in the former city centre location once again very soon.
An application is due to be submitted and Handmade Burger Company has also confirmed on their website, that they will be welcoming customers to five new branches - including Southampton, Leicester, Solihull, Reading and Peterborough - shortly.
Formal announcements on when the restaurant will open its doors are yet to be made.
