Young Peterborough swimmers make top 10 in British rankings

City of Peterborough Swim Club is celebrating Level X success

Level X Racing gives club swimmers the opportunity to take part in a series of time trials and then submit their results to Swim England’s rankings.

These are then compared against other swimmers from across the country.

After 18 months of uncertainty, the concept creates a contest among swimming clubs across England – but without them having to leave their home pool.

This weekend saw the third of four rounds, with five City of Peterborough Swim Club (COPS) members reaching the top 10 in the country and a further five making the top five.

Assistant coach Joe Middleton said: “This was an amazing learning opportunity for COPS members to display race skills developed during training.

“Across the club, our members rose to the challenge, racing in multiple events including the 400m individual medley, 1,500m freestyle, 50m butterfly and breaststroke, 200m individual medley, 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

“Our members faced this challenge head on, with professionalism and enthusiasm.

“All our swimmers provided real quality races with numerous athletes making the top 10 and top five in the country on British rankings in their respected events.”

The swimmers to be ranked in the top 10 in their events are:

  • Lara Treharne, age 14
  • Megan Donovan, 14
  • Olivia Lee, 17
  • Orlando Dearing, 13
  • Vanesa Cimermanova, 13

Those who made the top five are:

  • Jacob Bacon, 10
  • George Whiteman, 17
  • Harriet Salisbury, 17
  • Beth Dennis, 18
  • Daniel Moyses, 14

COPS are always looking for new members of Swim England Level 6 and above.
