The Masked Singer sees celebrities dress up in large costumes and perform hit songs on stage, giving only a handful of clues to allow the audience and the judges to stab a guess.

With stars such as Sir Lenny Henry, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Gabrielle and even Glenn Hoddle now unmasked, there are now only three characters left in the running for tonight's final - Robin, Badger and Sausage.

Theories surround the identity of the masked stars throughout the series, but one idea that fans aren't letting go of is that Peterborough star Aston Merrygold, of JLS, is the Robin.

One person, who attended Jack Hunt school and saw him perform when he came back from The X Factor, is adamant that he is the voice behind the Robin.

Speaking to Peterborough Matters, they said: "I saw Aston perform when he was at school – in school musicals and when he came back during his X Factor days – and although those performances were a while ago, his voice and dance moves haven't changes too much... though the Robin is very different to Marius in Les Mis!

"It has to be him; I just don't think it could be anyone else."

Some of the clues that have come out of the show include: "I know just how valuable a mentor can be", which could be a reference to Louis Walsh, following Aston's time on The X Factor; "Sport has always been a huge part of my life", a possible reference to the occasions that Aston has played for Soccer Aid, and one of the clues that has really convinced viewers that it is our local star was: "This Robin might have a red breast, but he's also known for being blue".

Any JLS fan would know what his blue reference would mean in an instant, or any parent of a JLS fan, or observant Peterborian in 2009 when the city centre turned into a sea of blue JLS hoodies.

One user tweeted last week: "No Aston just confirmed it! The Robin may be red but he's known for being blue! Who is blue in JLS? Aston!"

Another user wrote: "You literally cannot convince me Robin isn't Aston Merrygold I'm sorry. I've loved him since I was eight and I know his voice anywhere."

Other guesses for Badger and Sausage include Ne-yo and Stacey Solomon, respectively.

The Masked Singer final will air this evening at 7pm on ITV.
